Community
Programs

Serving the community is central to KCI’s mission  — whether it is supporting seniors through meals, wellness classes & social services, or bringing the community together to celebrate Korean traditions, or offering opportunities to learn about Korean culture. We welcome your input as we continue to expand our programming, so please contact us if you have feedback and/or suggestions.

Program News & Updates

> The Annual Bay Area Chuseok Festival is back for its 2nd year! While we’re disappointed we can’t welcome you in-person at The Presidio again this year, we’re working hard to present a fun set of Covid-safe activities. We hope you’ll join us in celebrating culture and community between Sept. 30 and Oct. 11. Visit the Chuseok Festival page for more information and please stay tuned as we add programming in the coming weeks.

> During August, KCI continues supporting vulnerable Korean seniors with a weekly food delivery program, thanks to a generous grant from the Korean American Community Foundation of San Francisco and partnership with SAMS American Eatery. Previously, with funding from SF New Deal and the support of dozens of volunteers, KCI delivered 6,000 meals to 150 Korean seniors in San Francisco over two months. Thanks to restaurant partners — Namu, K-Elements BBQ, and Wooden Charcoal Korean Village Barbecue House — for their generous support!

> All KCI classes and programs continued to be either offered online or are tempoerarily cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic and city guidelines on in-person gatherings. We will keep you informed of changes through our monthly e-newsletter, here on our website, via email, and on our instagram or facebook accounts.

Annual Chuseok Festival

KCI held the first Bay Area-wide Chuseok (Korean Harvest) Festival in Sept. 2019 in partnership with the Presidio Trust. We are exploring creative ways to bring you a virtual festival for this year’s Chuseok Festival during late-Sept./early-Oct. Stay tuned!
