COVID-19 RESPONSE PROGRAMS: SENIOR MEAL DELIVERY PROGRAM

“Banchan” Program

(6/12/2020 ~ 8/28/2020)

Thanks to supporting from the Korean American Community Foundation of San Francisco and SAMS American Eatery,  on June 12th, KCI launched the “Banchan (side dish)” Delivery Program to provide nutritious food for 150 vulnerable Korean seniors during the COVID-19 crisis.

KCI delivered four types of healthy banchan to each senior weekly to supplement their meals and a bag of rice twice a month. Volunteers have been recruited to make the deliveries from the Korean Center to seniors’ homes on every Friday.

Lunch Delivery Program

(4/13/2020 ~ 6/5/2020)

Thanks to the support of SF New Deal and the collaborative work of Korean American Community Foundation of San Francisco (KACF-SF), Korean Community Center of the East Bay (KCCEB), Korean American Senior Services, Inc. (KASSI) and KCI, on April 13th we launched the Senior Meal Delivery Program to provide lunches for vulnerable Korean seniors during the COVID-19 crisis.

The meals provided to Korean seniors are prepared by three local Korean restaurants, Namu , K-Elements BBQ  and Wooden Charcoal Korean Village and delivered to the Korean Center office. Volunteers have been recruited to make the deliveries to seniors’ homes. We successfully delivered 6,000 meals for 8 weeks, and the program ended on June 5th.

Thanks for all of your help!
