Seollal (Korean Lunar New Year) Celebration

Join us in celebrating Seollal, or Korean Lunar New Year, with our new year celebration event! You’ll be able to participate in traditional Seollal activities and learn more about traditional customs of this important holiday.
Event:
1. Tteokguk (Rice Cake Soup) Workshop with Sarah Kim-Lee
On Seollal, it is customary to eat tteokguk to celebrate as it represents a clean, fresh start to the new year. We will have a cooking workshop of tteokguk with local K-food chef and ambassadorSarah Kim-Lee. Participants will be given a demonstration of how tteokguk is made. Participants will also learn how to plate the dish and be able to enjoy the dish afterwards!
2. Experience Seollal Customs
Experience traditional Seollal customs by trying on hanboks, the traditional Korean clothing, playing traditional Korean games, and more!
Please note: If you are interested in trying on the hanboks and participating in the workshop with the hanbok on, please arrive at 10:30AM.
